How to Make the Perfect Homemade Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • For the toppings:
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Your favorite toppings (e.g., pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, peppers)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, and sugar.
  2. Gradually add the warm water, stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Add the salt and olive oil and knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 500°F.
  6. Punch down the dough and form it into a 12-inch circle.
  7. Place the dough on a lightly oiled baking sheet.
  8. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough.
  9. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  10. Add your favorite toppings.
  11. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  12. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips:

  • For a crispier crust, bake the pizza on a pizza stone.
  • If you don't have active dry yeast, you can use instant yeast. Just add it to the warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes before adding it to the flour mixture.
  • You can use any type of toppings you like. Be creative and experiment with different flavors.
  • Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help prevent the toppings from sliding off.
