The Best Hiking Trails in the US National Parks
America's national parks are home to some of the most breathtaking hiking trails in the world. From easy day hikes to challenging multi-day treks, there's a trail for every level of hiker.
Here are a few of our favorites:
1. Angels Landing, Zion National Park, Utah
This iconic hike is a must-do for any visitor to Zion National Park. The trail is short (only 5 miles round-trip), but it's steep and strenuous, with a final climb up a narrow ridge with sheer drops on both sides. The views from the top are incredible, making it all worth it.
2. Half Dome, Yosemite National Park, California
This challenging hike is one of the most popular in Yosemite National Park. The trail is 14 miles round-trip, with a total elevation gain of over 4,800 feet. The highlight of the hike is the final ascent up Half Dome, which requires a permit and involves climbing up a series of cables.
3. The Narrows, Zion National Park, Utah
This unique hike takes you through the narrowest section of Zion Canyon. The trail is mostly flat, but you'll need to be prepared to get wet, as you'll be hiking through the Virgin River for most of the way.
4. Bright Angel Trail, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
This classic hike takes you from the rim of the Grand Canyon down to the Colorado River. The trail is 11 miles one-way, so you can choose to hike the entire way or just a portion of it.
5. Old Faithful Geyser Trail, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
This short hike takes you to the most famous geyser in the world, Old Faithful. The trail is just over a mile round-trip, and it's a great way to see the geyser up close.
